María Almena
Creative director

Maria Almena is a multidisciplinary artist, director of the creative studio, Kimatica as well as curator of the charitable organisation Art in Flux.

Her artistic practise explores concepts of human consciousness and perception, making those transcendental ideas accessible to a modern audience, to inspire reconnection with the magical thinking and ethereal world. Her research is focused on exploring the crossover between the physical and spiritual, the virtual and real, the science and the arts, and contemporary and ancestral rituals. She enjoys playing with visual perceptions, intending to transport the viewer into new worlds, to dramatise the transition between states of consciousness and highlighting the importance of the journey in itself. She uses the human body as a key to explore these ideas, transforming, mutating and searching for answers in our own canvas.

She has mainly produced interactive installations, new media performances and immersive experiences always with a strong therapeutic approach. Her work has been commissioned by Tate Museum, British Council, National Gallery, Barbican Centre, V&A Museum to name a few, and many international festivals as well as by brands such as Instagram, Veuve Clicquot, MTV amongst others and by many private clients.
